Kyme

Kyme City, the largest of the 12 Aiol Cities, is near AliaÄŸa Çakmaklı Village. Ancient sites in AliaÄŸa

Myrina

Myrina, an important city in the Aiolis region, is an ancient city that lives in harmony with nature at the last bay of Çandarlı bay in Western Anatolia. The majority of Myrina's aboveground remains have been used in the construction of other cities near the centuries and the city has been completely destroyed. For this reason, apart from the harbor stones, the architectural parts of the city have not come to the present day. Although the above-ground remains are almost nonexistent, the widespread use of pottery pieces and terracotta figurines in the environment caused the attention of the researchers. Thus, it was known not for Myrina buildings but for terracotta figurines. Pottery pieces, figurines, architectural friezes, sarcophagus lids scattered on the hills where Myrina once lived, prove the city's rich culture.

The establishment of the city, famous for the temple of Apollo, is not known for certain. Strabon says that the most famous of the Apollo shrines in Western Anatolia are here. In the Roman era, the city became extinct and became a temple place under Myrina. It is now known as the temple of Apollo, which was accepted as a place of prophecy in history.

Aigai
